Anna Meneer
Anna Meneer is running for Hanover School Division Trustee in the newly created Ward 1 of Niverville, Kleefeld, New Bothwell and Crystal Springs.
Meneer has been married for 16 years, has four children in school and has knowledge and experience from being a business owner.
"I've been listening to the community and believe a candidate must be a voice for the children and their needs," she explains of why she has chosen to run. "Addressing the lowest test scores in Canada for science, reading and math should be the priority. Our children are the future, and we need to prioritize the direction of the Hanover School Division."
Meneer notes there are several issues she wants to address.
"We need more support for the EA's," she describes. "I've talked to many EA's and they don't feel the school supports them all the time. And smaller classes for the younger grades, because then they'll have more success later on."
Meneer has been very involved in schools, and she says students and teachers know who she is.
"Other candidates talk about building new schools, adding services and adding extra programs to specific areas and technology with no answers to the issues at hand. Back to basics, I'm here to say band-aid solutions don't work, our children's education needs to be addressed with a proactive direction to improve learning in Hanover School Division."
The election is October 22nd.
