This morning concluded the third annual Green Valley School thanksgiving food drive.

Vice-Principal Rachel Thiessen says the final tally was 5,010 pounds of non-perishable food items. Thiessen adds there were incentives put in place for the students depending on how much they were able to collect.

“At 5000 pounds two students and two staff members are going to do fear factor. At 6000 pounds the Principal, whose a huge Bomber fan is going to wear Rider wear and one of our math teachers whose a huge Rider fan is going to wear Bomber wear. Also we have four teachers who are going to receive a pie in the face.”

Thiessen adds if they had been able to make it to 8000 pounds three staff members would have had ice water dumped on them during an assembly.

She notes the students also took it upon themselves to challenge other students within their classroom as well as other classrooms within the school. Student expressed to Thiessen how the need is great and it wasn't about the prizes they got, but how it was the right thing to do.
